  • female cosmetic,
  • hair and
  • skin-care products

In addition, the company is also known for creating talcum baby powder. Talcum baby powder has been at the center of many product liability lawsuits. Talcum baby powder has been directly linked with the cause of ovarian cancer in women. This article will discuss a Johnson & Johnson product recall for an anti-psychotic drug.

Risperdal Consta Recall

Risperdal Consta is an anti-psychotic drug that is used to treat schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. The drug is administered by way of injection. Johnson & Johnson announced a recall on September 11. This was after a routine test showed that at least one lot of the drug was contaminated. The contamination was from a common variety of mold that is known as alternaria alternata. No reports of injuries have been made that are linked to these contaminated vials.

The concerns that arose because of the mold was the effect it had. It was said that it would cause infection around the area where the injection would be given. For patients who had immune systems that are compromised it would risk infection.

J&J gave instructions to all wholesalers, distributors, pharmacies and health care providers to send the drug back to their facilities. The recall was made to these parties because the drug is injected and stored at doctors’ offices and clinics.

Motrin Infant Drops Recall

Another recall was made on September 7 for 200,000 bottles of Motrin Infant Drops Original Berry flavor infant formula. Tiny plastic particles were discovered in the product before it was released to the public, according to the FDA. Additionally, other J&J recalls made recently include:

  • Children’s Tylenol
  • Contact lenses and
  • Heart devices
