Accidents hardly come with a warning in advance, and so they leave most victims unprepared. Because of how accidents happen victims are not too sure how to proceed. This is made worse when the victims suffer injury or property loss. They may not know what decisions to make and when to make them. This article and a subsequent one will discuss important questions to ask a personal injury attorney before hiring them.
Attorney Interview Questions
When you’re choosing your legal representative, it is important that you get the right person for the job. To find out who this right person is you need to ask some important questions. Some of these questions are listed below.
- What area of law do you specialize in?
Obviously, you would not take your cat with a broken leg to the dentist. In the same light, you should not go to an attorney who does not focus their practice on personal injury work. Different lawyers often specialize in different areas of the law. As such, they have specialized skills relating to those areas they specialize in. To get the best results you will need to find an attorney who specializes in personal injury law.
- Has the attorney taken similar cases in the past? How many cases? What was the result of these cases?
So just because someone specializes in a specific area does not mean they are skilled in that area. In fact, they may be new in that practice area, do it part time or just be bad at it. That being said, past performances do not guarantee future results. However, at least it’ll make you feel better that you’re dealing with somebody who knows what they’re doing.
